HTML Help is a format on which the help files of many Windows programs were based in the past. It is somewhat outdated, but continues to be appreciated by some users. With lexiCan you have the possibility to create an HTML Help file from any project. Unfortunately, this export variant cannot take into account the files contained in a project. The CHM file format does not allow this.
A prerequisite for this export variant is the installation of the Microsoft HTML Workshop on your computer.
Click on "Export" in the main menu and choose then "HTML Help".
In the right-hand window area, define the desired storage location ("Directory") as well as the file name for the CHM file to be created, e.g.
In the "Options" area, determine whether you want to export the entire project or only parts of it ("Selection"). You can also specify whether you want to export the references assigned to articles as well.
If the HTML Help Workshop (see above) was not installed to C:\Program Files (x86) by default, you must enter the exact program path in the following area. If the program is not installed yet click on the link within the text.
If you only like to export just parts of the project ("Selection"), a selection window opens after starting the export process, in which you can choose between the index view and the outline view (translation outstanding), e.g.
With the help of the context menu via the right mouse button, you can select entire outlines from once (translation outstanding, e.g.
After the data export is completed, the generated HTML help file is automatically opened, e.g.
